We were happy to be asked by young student Alyssa from Thirsk School & Sixth Form College if she could spend the week with us experiencing various aspects of working for a Motor Group. Here's what she had to say about her experience with us:
I am doing my work experience here at Vantage Toyota in Knaresborough. I started my work experience on Monday the 10th of July and I will be finishing on Friday the 14th of July, 1 week to experience the different roles. On Monday, I was introduced to everyone in the accounts apartment, where I would be for the day, and I was taught a lot about what they did there. I learnt a lot about Purchase Ledger in the morning whilst observing how they work. In the afternoon, I was taught how to write out cheques and helped with some extra work they needed to do.
On Tuesday, I was asked to help with vehicle administration. In the morning, I helped with some credit card banking and when I finished this, I found the vehicle stock numbers for some invoices and wrote them down on the invoice sheets to take down to accounts. In the afternoon, I looked up some of the registration plates to find out if they had an owner. After this, I was asked to fill in some envelopes stating facts about the specific car and if it had a spare key or not.
On Wednesday morning, I was helping in reception and the show room, I loved speaking to customers and bringing them coffee. I helped vacuum the front of the cars to make sure they are presentable and I checked that the keys for them had the correct numbers on them. Every customer was very sweet and it was nice to help them.
So far, I am very happy that I came here because everyone I have spoken to are extremely kind, understanding and willing to teach me different things. Having my work experience here is giving me the opportunity to consider the separate roles as something I’ll want to do when I leave school.
We're happy to see that Alyssa had a good week with us here at Toyota Knaresborough and hope that maybe in the future she will consider a career in our wonderful industry. We wish her the best of luck with her GCSE's next year.
